Have more questions about logbook service? What is a log book service? A log book service is a scheduled vehicle service carried out according to the specifications set by your vehicle's manufacturer. Different maintenance items are required at particular time or kilometre intervals, helping ensure important components are inspected, maintained or replaced when necessary. How often does my car need a log book service? The required service interval varies depending on the make, model, engine and age of your vehicle. Manufacturers generally specify servicing based on a set period of time or kilometres travelled, whichever occurs first. Check your vehicle's log book or service information for its recommended schedule. If you're unsure when your next service is due, the team at Cobra Motors can help. Do I have to take my new car back to the dealership for servicing? No. You can choose a qualified independent workshop to service your vehicle. Your vehicle should be serviced according to the manufacturer's specifications, using appropriate quality parts and fluids. Cobra Motors can carry out log book servicing on new vehicles while following the manufacturer's required service schedule. Will servicing my new car at Cobra Motors affect my warranty? Having your vehicle serviced by an independent qualified mechanic does not automatically void your statutory new car warranty. The service needs to be performed to the manufacturer's specifications and appropriate parts and fluids must be used. Our qualified team follows the relevant service requirements when completing log book servicing. What is included in a log book service? The work required depends on the vehicle and the particular service interval. A log book service may include an engine oil and filter change, fluid checks, brake inspections, tyre checks, steering and suspension inspections, belt and hose checks, battery checks and other manufacturer-specified maintenance. Some service intervals require additional items such as spark plugs, filters or particular fluids to be replaced. Is a log book service the same for every car? No. Each vehicle manufacturer sets its own servicing requirements, and these can also vary between different models and engines from the same manufacturer. That's why log book servicing should follow the schedule for your specific vehicle rather than using a one-size-fits-all servicing checklist. Can Cobra Motors service different makes and models? Yes. Cobra Motors provides log book servicing for a wide range of vehicle makes and models. Our technicians have access to up-to-date servicing information and undertake ongoing Repco Auto-Tech training to keep up with modern vehicle technology and repair procedures. What happens if I miss a scheduled service? Delaying a service can mean important maintenance items aren't inspected or replaced when recommended. Over time, this may contribute to increased wear, reduced reliability, poor performance or more expensive repairs. If your car is overdue for a service, contact Cobra Motors. We can assess your vehicle and help you get its servicing back on track. Do I need my physical log book to have a log book service? Not necessarily. A log book service refers to following the manufacturer's recommended servicing schedule. If you don't have the physical log book, speak with our team about your vehicle and its service history. Keeping accurate servicing records is still worthwhile, particularly when it comes time to sell or trade your vehicle. Why is keeping a complete service history important? A documented service history provides a record of the maintenance carried out on your vehicle. It can help future mechanics understand what work has already been completed and may also provide reassurance to a potential buyer that the vehicle has been regularly maintained. Can regular log book servicing help prevent breakdowns? Regular servicing can't prevent every unexpected mechanical problem, but it can help identify wear, deterioration and developing faults before they become more serious. Following the recommended maintenance schedule also helps keep essential vehicle systems in good working order. What if you find another problem during my service? If an inspection identifies an issue requiring additional attention, our team can explain what has been found and discuss the recommended repairs with you. This allows you to make an informed decision about any additional work your vehicle may need.

New Car Service in Sunshine North

Engines that operate through internal combustion rely on large amounts of clean air to ensure the fuel burns properly and generates the power needed to drive the vehicle. At Cobra Motors in Sunshine North, we understand how vital it is to keep your car's air filter in good condition as part of protecting your engine's health. Your engine requires extremely clean air to function efficiently. Dirt, dust, and other particles entering the engine can cause serious damage. That’s where the air filter comes into play. It ensures the air entering the combustion chambers is clean, shielding key engine components such as the pistons and cylinders from wear and damage. Why Replace Your Air Filter? Save on Fuel Costs: Your engine requires the correct balance of fuel and air to run efficiently. A clogged air filter restricts airflow, causing your engine to run inefficiently – often referred to as ‘running rich.’ This not only puts additional stress on your engine but can also increase fuel consumption by up to 10%. No one likes spending more on petrol than necessary! Protect Your Engine: Over time, air filters become clogged and weaker, increasing the risk of damage. A damaged or overly dirty air filter can allow harmful particles to enter the engine, potentially leading to expensive repairs. Benefits of Replacing Your Air Filter: Extends the life of your engine Improves fuel efficiency Reduces vehicle emissions At Cobra Motors, we always check the condition of your air filter during every full car service. Whether it’s a major or minor service, or one that follows your manufacturer’s handbook or logbook guidelines, you can trust us to keep your engine running smoothly.

Keep your engine healthy with clean air filters. Improve fuel efficiency, reduce emissions, and extend engine life. Visit Cobra Motors for expert maintenance and reliable car servicing.

If you've noticed your car making unusual noises, displaying warning lights or simply not driving like it used to, you're not alone. At Cobra Motors, we help drivers from Sunshine North and surrounding suburbs with a wide range of vehicle issues every week. Many common mechanical problems start small but can quickly become expensive repairs if they're ignored. Here are ten of the most common issues we see in our workshop and what you can do to help prevent them. 1. Brake Noise and Worn Brake Pads Squealing, grinding or vibrating brakes are one of the most common reasons customers visit our workshop. Brake pads naturally wear over time, but delaying replacement can damage your brake discs and increase repair costs. How to avoid it: Have your brakes inspected during every service. Don't ignore unusual brake noises. Replace worn brake pads before they damage other components. 2. Battery Failure Flat batteries often happen without much warning, particularly during colder months or after several years of use. Signs your battery may be failing include: Slow engine cranking Dim headlights Electrical issues Dashboard battery warning light How to avoid it: Ask for a battery test during your next service. Most batteries last between three and five years. 3. Engine Warning Lights Modern vehicles constantly monitor their systems. When something isn't operating correctly, the Check Engine Light may illuminate. Possible causes include: Faulty sensors Ignition problems Fuel system faults Emissions issues Engine performance concerns How to avoid it: Don't ignore warning lights. Professional diagnostics can identify the issue before it develops into a more expensive repair. 4. Suspension Wear If your vehicle feels unstable, knocks over bumps or the steering doesn't feel right, worn suspension components could be the cause. Common worn parts include: Shock absorbers Struts Suspension bushes Ball joints How to avoid it: Have your suspension inspected during routine servicing, especially if you regularly drive on rough roads or carry heavy loads. 5. Uneven Tyre Wear and Wheel Alignment Problems Uneven tyre wear can reduce handling, fuel economy and tyre life. Common causes include: Incorrect wheel alignment Worn suspension components Incorrect tyre pressures How to avoid it: Have your wheel alignment checked whenever you replace tyres or notice your vehicle pulling to one side. 6. Cooling System Problems Overheating remains one of the leading causes of major engine damage. Cooling system issues can include: Coolant leaks Worn radiator hoses Faulty thermostats Water pump failure How to avoid it: Regular cooling system inspections and coolant replacement help protect your engine from costly overheating repairs. 7. Oil Leaks Small oil leaks can quickly become larger problems if left unattended. You may notice: Oil spots under your vehicle Burning oil smells Low oil levels How to avoid it: Routine servicing allows small leaks to be identified before they become major repairs. 8. Air Conditioning Not Cooling Properly If your air conditioning isn't keeping you comfortable, it may require more than a simple regas. Common causes include: Refrigerant leaks Worn compressors Faulty condensers Blocked cabin filters How to avoid it: Operate your air conditioner throughout the year and have it inspected if cooling performance declines. 9. Steering Vibrations If your steering wheel shakes while driving, the issue may involve your tyres, wheels, suspension or brakes. Possible causes include: Wheel balancing Brake disc runout Suspension wear Tyre damage How to avoid it: Have unusual vibrations inspected promptly before they affect safety or cause additional wear. 10. Delayed Vehicle Servicing Perhaps the biggest problem we see is vehicles that simply haven't been serviced on time. Skipping routine maintenance often leads to: Premature component wear Higher fuel consumption Reduced reliability More expensive repairs How to avoid it: Follow your manufacturer's recommended service schedule or speak with our team about the right servicing intervals for your driving habits. Keep Your Car Running at Its Best Many vehicle problems can be prevented with regular servicing and early diagnosis. Whether your car has developed an unusual noise, a warning light has appeared, or it's simply due for a service, the experienced team at Cobra Motors is here to help. We proudly service all makes and models, including petrol, diesel, hybrid and European vehicles, providing honest advice and quality workmanship to drivers throughout Sunshine North and the surrounding areas. Book your next service with Cobra Motors today and let us help keep your vehicle safe, reliable and performing at its best. Have more questions about car breakdowns? What is the most common reason cars break down? Battery failure, neglected servicing, cooling system issues and worn brakes are among the most common causes of vehicle breakdowns. Should I drive with my Check Engine Light on? A steady Check Engine Light may indicate a fault that should be diagnosed as soon as possible. If the light is flashing, stop driving when it's safe to do so and arrange professional assistance, as this may indicate a serious engine problem. How often should my car be serviced? Most vehicles should be serviced every 10,000 to 15,000 kilometres or every 6 to 12 months, depending on the manufacturer's recommendations and your driving conditions. Why is my steering wheel shaking? Steering wheel vibration can be caused by wheel balancing issues, tyre wear, suspension problems or brake component wear. A professional inspection can identify the exact cause. Can regular servicing improve fuel economy? Yes. Keeping your engine properly maintained, tyres correctly inflated and filters clean helps your vehicle operate more efficiently, which can improve fuel economy and reduce wear. Why are my brakes making a squealing noise? Brake squeal often indicates worn brake pads or a build-up of brake dust. It's best to have your braking system inspected promptly to maintain safe stopping performance. How long does a typical car battery last? Most vehicle batteries last between three and five years, although extreme temperatures and driving habits can shorten their lifespan. When should I have my wheel alignment checked? A wheel alignment is recommended after replacing tyres, following suspension repairs, or if your vehicle pulls to one side or the steering wheel is off-centre.

If you've noticed your car making unusual noises, displaying warning lights or simply not driving like it used to, you're not alone.
